Senior System Engineer

A Chicago based staffing and consulting firm is looking to bring on a Senior System Engineer in Chicago. In this role, you will work on driving our core infrastructure forward, leveraging the latest and greatest technologies to help improve our IT operations. The Senior Systems Engineer will act as a trusted expert in the decision making and implementation of projects and automated Infrastructure solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provides technical leadership, hands-on implementation skills, and extensive troubleshooting skills for the IT infrastructure.

· ISP vendor management

· Ensure circuits are aligned with office size

· Optimize circuits that can be replaced

· Evaluate are recommend solutions for bottlenecks and issues

• Developing and implementing comprehensive system architectures for on-premises and Azure-based solutions.
• Analyze and optimize our O365 environment for SharePoint, Teams, and Email.
• Lead and conduct domain migrations and consolidations across our various business units.
• Developing scripts and automation workflows to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and scaling in both on-premises and Azure environments.
• Evaluate upcoming technologies against organizational requirements (e.g., hybrid on-prem/cloud solutions).
• Communicate technical requirements and risk effectively with messaging appropriate to the audience.
• Apply technical knowledge and experience to assess new technologies and innovations to develop recommendations.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, playbooks, and documentation of system infrastructure.
• Partner with Infosec on the design, implement, and support of our centralized identity and access management solution.
• Mentor and assist Infrastructure Team in all technical aspects.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelors degree or commensurate experience as listed below.
• 10 years of experience working within Information Technology.
• 7 years operational engineering experience providing solutions and support in a Windows and Azure cloud environment.

· 5-8 years of hands on Meraki experience with 10 years total in Networking

· Firewalls, switches, WAP, and camera’s

· Administration and troubleshooting

· New site implementation

· Existing site migrations

· Internet circuit implementation

· VPN implementation

· Networking enterprise design

· 5-8 years of telephony experience

· Administration

· Troubleshooting

· New site implementation

· Site migrations

• Strong PowerShell scripting experience.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Graph
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical matters in an understandable manner.
• Project Management skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present complex, technical ideas in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences.
• Cloud Certifications a plus (AZ 301 - AZ 304).
