Senior Staff Accountant

Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Alexandria, Virginia

Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000 (depending on qualifications)

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• 3 years of accounting experience, strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (preferred)

Job Description:

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Complete balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, including invoice review and billing support
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis
• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
• Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
• Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives
