Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously update fiber optic GIS mapping systems to reflect existing, current, and planned infrastructure
- Perform hands-on field work locating, tracing, and verifying fiber optic routes when documentation is incomplete or outdated
- Verify completed fiber work meets organizational standards
- Create and maintain GIS records using Esri ArcGIS and related tools
- Translate raw field data into accurate and usable GIS documentation
- Read and interpret schematics, plans, and CAD drawings
- Support fiber installation efforts in the field, including assisting with servers, network hardware, and related infrastructure
- Work in data centers to assist with fiber documentation, labeling, organization, and inventory
- Communicate fiber routing, counts, and requirements to vendors and internal teams
- Assist with planning future fiber builds and infrastructure expansion
- Travel extensively within the service area, including occasional overnight stays, with vehicle, fuel, and travel expenses covered
- Work safely along active roadways and in physically demanding outdoor environments
- Prior hands-on GIS experience is required
- Experience using Esri ArcGIS or equivalent GIS platforms
- Strong ability to read and understand schematics, plans, and CAD drawings
- Field-based GIS or utility mapping experience strongly preferred
- Experience mapping electrical, fiber, or utility infrastructure
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel regularly
- Ability to meet the physical demands of field-based work
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Background in electrical, utility, or oil & gas GIS environments
- Comfortable working outdoors and alongside active roadways
- Curious, hands-on, and willing to assist across IT and infrastructure initiatives
- Adaptable, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technical skills
- Interest in long-term contract engagement and team contribution
- Jira or Confluence experience is a plus but not required
- Pay: We negotiate high salaries using U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
