What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at Addison Group?
Our client is looking for a Billing Specialist to join their team!
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the end‑to‑end appeals process for client invoices, from issue identification through final resolution and tracking.
- Draft clear, persuasive appeal narratives for attorney review and approval to optimize success rates and recoveries.
- Monitor and manage appeal deadlines across multiple e‑billing platforms to prevent forfeiture of appeal rights and maximize recovery opportunities.
- Maintain a detailed appeals log, tracking status, outcomes, and aging for short‑paid and rejected invoices.
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, and billing staff to obtain supporting information and documentation needed for effective appeals.
- Communicate consistently and proactively on appeal status and outcomes to Billing, Collections, and client teams.
- Prepare reporting to share insights with Finance and LPM.
- Participate in process‑improvement and training initiatives related to billing and OCG compliance.
- Perform other projects assigned by the Billing Manager and Director of Legal Project and Practice Management.
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred.
- Experience collaborating with LPM, pricing, or client relationship teams on billing and OCG compliance preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years legal e-billing or appeals experience with electronic billing or appeals, preferably in law firm environment.
- Knowledge of 3E and eBillingHub a plus.
- Hands-on experience and advanced skills utilizing major e-bill vendor portals required.
- Flexible to work overtime as required during peak billing/appeals cycles.
