Our staffing agency is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Elizabeth, NJ. The primary focus of the staff accountant will be the day-to-day financial recordkeeping and reporting - prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail while maintaining the ability to appreciate and plan for the big picture. They will be committed to understanding, challenging, and improving the financial performance of the business. Salary starting at $70,000/year, commensurate with experience.
Monday-Friday, 9a-5p, in office
The Staff Accountant will support the finance department and CEO, including the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, analyze and verify financial information, and prepare internal financial reports. Reconcile and review general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and record month-end accruals.
- Prepare internal month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
- Perform moderately complex accounting reconciliations and balance sheet trend analysis, as assigned.
- Prepare reports that aid management in determining the proper accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures. Provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.
- Ensure accuracy of employer tax withholding process.
- Review and post expense reports.
- Oversee credit and collections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3 years experience as a staff accountant; staffing agency experience a plus
- Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), employer tax withholding, and credit and collections
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information
- Experience with Quick Books Online greatly preferred
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
