Job Description
The Quality Assurance Analyst performs routine and non-routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet established quality and food safety specifications. This role supports compliance with regulatory requirements, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates closely with production and operations teams to uphold consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to verify compliance with quality specifications.
- Conduct pH measurements, moisture testing, density analysis, chemical titrations, and allergen testing according to established procedures.
- Monitor critical control points and support food safety programs to ensure ongoing compliance with internal and external standards.
- Review and document test results accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining clear and complete records.
- Investigate out-of-specification findings, assist in root cause analysis, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with production and operations teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including customer, regulatory, and third-party inspections, by providing data, records, and laboratory support.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, food safety, and process efficiency.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and readiness for testing.
- Participate in training programs to promote quality awareness, regulatory compliance, and best practices across the facility.
- Work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments, following all safety procedures and good laboratory practices.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, including handling samples, operating lab instrumentation, and following standardized test methods.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices in a food or related manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform pH measurements, moisture testing, density testing, chemical titrations, and allergen testing with accuracy and consistency.
- Familiarity with monitoring critical control points and supporting food safety programs.
- Experience using and maintaining laboratory instrumentation in a lab environment.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support quality decisions and investigations.
- Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations related to food safety and quality.
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to maintain accurate, compliant records in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in testing, documentation, and reporting.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with production, operations, and quality teams.
- Ability to support audits by organizing and presenting laboratory data and records.
- Willingness and ability to work an overnight 6PM–6AM shift on a 2/2/3 schedule.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field is preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting food safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audit processes.
- Experience working under FDA and USDA-regulated environments.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to training programs focused on quality and compliance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues.
This role operates in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. You will work around food processing equipment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and typical production facility conditions. The position requires regular use of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, as well as movement between lab and production areas to support testing and monitoring activities. The shift is overnight, following a 2/2/3 schedule with working hours from 6PM to 6AM, which includes weekends and holidays as scheduled. You are expected to follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment in both the lab and manufacturing areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Sioux City, NE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
