Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations. This is a contract assignment intended to provide leadership and continuity while a permanent Pharmacist in Charge is identified. The individual selected for this role will be eligible for contract extension or consideration for permanent hire based on performance and business needs. The PIC will serve as the pharmacist responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications, operational oversight, and leadership of pharmacy staff.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, assuming full legal and regulatory responsibility for pharmacy operations

Ensure compliance with all South Dakota Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and applicable federal and state regulations

Oversee daily workflow to ensure safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications

Supervise, train, and support pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and required reporting

Implement and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards

Address operational issues, audits, and inspections as needed

Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary partners to support patient care and operational goals

Ensure inventory control, medication storage, and controlled substance management are compliant and up to date

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Active Pharmacy License in the State of South Dakota.

This is a Contract position based out of Watertown, South Dakota.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Watertown,South Dakota.
