Plant Manager – Food Manufacturing

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly driven, results-oriented Plant Manager to lead all day-to-day operations within our food manufacturing facility. This role is focused on increasing efficiency, streamlining processes, improving plant performance, and establishing strong oversight and structure within the Maintenance department. We are looking for a hands-on, strategic leader with deep experience in food manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Performance & Efficiency
- Lead all plant operations with a focus on maximizing productivity, throughput, and operational uptime.
- Develop and execute strategies that improve efficiency and reduce waste, downtime, and cost.
- Monitor KPIs daily/weekly/monthly and implement corrective actions to ensure performance targets are met or exceeded.
- Oversee production scheduling and capacity planning to ensure consistent output and flow.
Process Improvement & Standardization:
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and gaps in current processes; implement streamlined systems that remove waste and redundancy.
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
- Create, maintain, and enforce SOPs and best practices for all operational areas.
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and data-driven decision-making.
Maintenance Department Leadership:
- Take full ownership of the Maintenance department, ensuring structure, discipline, and proactive planning.
- Implement a robust preventive and predictive maintenance program to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee spare parts inventory, work order systems, and maintenance KPIs to gain full control of departmental performance.
- Build strong collaboration between Maintenance and Production to reduce downtime and improve line reliability.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team with clear goals and accountability.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, urgency, and operational excellence.
- Recruit, train, and develop talent within Production, Maintenance, and supporting departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5–10 years of progressive operations leadership experience in food or CPG manufacturing.
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven success in improving Maintenance department structure, planning, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, increase uptime, and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
