Job Summary:
The Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring competitive bids and profitability. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop and maintain budgets and provide cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain cost databases and historical records for future estimating.
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs, identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare bid proposals and submit estimates within deadlines.
- Participate in pre-bid and project kickoff meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience in construction estimating (commercial, residential, or industrial).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, or equivalent) and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits required.
- Fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
