Our client is a real estate firm. They seek an Employee Relations Manager to join their Manhattan, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, fraud, policy violations, ethical concerns, and workplace safety matters
- Partner with HR and Legal to support workplace accommodation investigations and related employee concerns
- Develop investigation plans, conduct interviews, gather evidence, and maintain detailed case documentation
- Prepare objective findings and recommendations in collaboration with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and Safety teams
- Resolve employee concerns through coaching, mediation, corrective action, and informal resolution strategies
- Advise HR Business Partners and managers on performance management, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution
- Collaborate with leadership to implement and monitor performance improvement plans (PIPs) and corrective action processes
- Guide accommodations, workplace safety obligations, policy interpretation, and sensitive employee matters
- Track investigation trends, analyze compliance risks, and contribute to training on investigations, workplace safety, and respectful workplace practices
Requirements
- 5 years of employee relations experience with significant workplace investigations exposure and conducting complex investigations
- Undergraduate degree required
- Experience in multi-state and unionized environments preferred, including familiarity with CA, CO, IL, MA, and NY employment laws
- Strong knowledge of employment laws (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, ADA, OSHA, wage and hour)
- Excellent interviewing, analytical, and written communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- High emotional intelligence
- Calm and effective under pressure
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
