Title:University Policy Analyst (Rural Economics)

Position Summary:

The University Policy Analyst will conduct applied economic research to inform rural development strategies, agricultural policy, and land-use decisions. This position requires advanced quantitative skills to assess the economic implications of zoning regulations, agritourism development, and other rural economic initiatives. Through rigorous economic modeling and policy evaluation, the analyst will produce actionable insights for policymakers, extension professionals, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop econometric models to quantify the impacts of land-use policies, agritourism investments, and rural development programs
  • Conduct fiscal impact analyses and feasibility studies for proposed agricultural and rural policies
  • Evaluate market incentives and return-on-investment scenarios for agribusiness development
  • Create decision-support tools and investment frameworks for government agencies and agricultural organizations
  • Prepare policy briefs, technical reports, and presentations, translating complex economic analysis for diverse audiences
  • Collaborate with extension educators to disseminate research findings to agricultural producers and rural communities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Public Policy, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in economic analysis related to rural development or agricultural policy
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative modeling (econometrics, input-output analysis, or spatial economics)
  • Proven experience conducting cost-benefit analyses and ROI assessments in agribusiness contexts
  • Proficiency with statistical software (R, Stata, Python, or SAS) and economic simulation tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
