Key Responsibilities:
- Develop overlay zoning maps (e.g., Agricultural and Agritourism Overlay Districts—AAOD) to guide land use policies.
- Conduct zoning ordinance assessments and provide recommendations for regulatory improvements.
- Analyze land use, demographic, and economic data to support planning and development decisions.
- Create interactive maps, dashboards, and visualizations for stakeholder presentations and reports.
- Collaborate with planners, policymakers, and developers to align GIS analysis with strategic goals.
- Support rural and economic development projects through spatial modeling and suitability studies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3 years of experience developing zoning overlays, GIS maps, and land use plans (preferably for economic or rural projects).
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar geospatial software.
- Experience with spatial analysis, cartography, and data visualization tools (e.g., ArcGIS Online, Tableau).
- Knowledge of land use planning principles, zoning codes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or SQL for geospatial automation and data processing.
- Experience with 3D modeling, remote sensing, or drone mapping (e.g., LiDAR, UAV data).
- Background in economic development, rural planning, or environmental policy.
