Job purpose
The Manager of Plant Operations is responsible for safety, planning, directing, and overseeing production; training activities and initiatives; continuous improvement; and resource allocation to meet business objectives and patient requirements.
The Manager achieves business objectives through collaboration with peers and supporting departments, implementation of lean principles, employee and personnel development, and establishes objectives to create and maintain a high-performance organization.
The position will provide direct leadership to Supervisors and supports team leaders and production team members, which consists of approximately 200 team members.
Duties and responsibilities
- Actively engages with direct reports and other departments to understand issues, analyze information, communicate information, and drive solutions/improvements. Resolves problems by quickly analyzing information and executing short term and long tern corrective actions.
- Coordinates plant activities and execution of S&OP requirements through collaboration to ensure patient expectations are met and align with CMS commitments.
- Manages departments and headcount for optimal productivity in a cost center environment. Continually reviews manufacturing processes and takes appropriate actions to minimize costs and maximize productivity, efficiency, labor utilization, WIP reduction and/or quality. Participates in annual planning, providing key inputs for production operations.
- Develops metrics and ensures proper reporting to track against established goals. Achieves objectives by embedding lean concepts into operations, executing plans, analyzing data and driving improvement activities. Provides updates to Director of Service Operations on progress, challenges, and topics critical to business.
- Assists the Engineering group in driving lean manufacturing philosophy throughout the organization and managing progress through a Lean Maturity Assessment (LMA). Improve the Visual Factory by incorporating management dashboards and visual indicators throughout the facility.
- Leads training organization to optimize training platforms and footprint, integrating training initiatives into operations, optimizing opportunities for streamlined training and providing overall direction in line with business requirements.
- Creates a high-performing organization by effectively coaching, managing, developing, and motivating direct and indirect reports. Provides effective, constructive, and appropriate feedback and leadership to direct reports to foster positive, team atmosphere while establishing responsibilities and accountabilities that are clear and measurable.
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business or Science related field is required. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a manufacturing/production environment, with 7 years in a managerial role.
- Demonstrated understanding and utilization of lean tools to help facilitate continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Successful track record of people development and mentoring; selecting, coaching and developing staff through performance management and other techniques
- Strong track record of delivering results through other people, Empower employees to drive improvements

- Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
- Detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills

Working conditions
Work will be on site, in a manufacturing environment with a controlled atmosphere.
Physical requirements
Active shop floor presence is required. Walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
Supervisory responsibility
The position manages supervisors and supports team leaders and production team members.
