Zingerman’s Deli is hiring Event Bartenders!

Be a part of the Zingerman’s Deli Team! If you are looking for a flexible job where YOU create your own schedule, we'd love to have you on our team of Catering Event Bartenders. You are the front line of our catering events–tending bar and also assisting in the serving, setting up, replenishing, and clearing and bussing at our events with the rest of our Catering team to deliver the Zingerman’s Experience at celebrations and gatherings in Ann Arbor and all over Southeast Michigan! This is a fast paced position that will involve constant customer interaction and requires the ability to carry large, heavy trays. This is an occasional position that pays $18-$19/hour PLUS tips. You’ll also get a free meal on each shift, a staff discount at all Zingerman’s businesses and a super discounted bus pass.

Compensation: $18 to start with additional tips. $19 after completion of orientation (variable tips also may apply)

• This is an occasional hourly position (usually one 10 hour shift once a week) with Zingerman’s Deli Catering and Events. 
• Additional hours may be available
• Most work occurs on weekends.

Performance expectations - Essential Functions:

• Serves food and beverages carrying large, heavy trays
• Loads and unloads vehicles with equipment and food
• Sets up and tears down events including tables, chairs, place settings, linens, buffets
• Stocks and replenishes food stations/buffet tables
• Busses tables and works to keep guest spaces clean and tidy
• Sets up and maintains the scullery station
• Keeps all workspaces clean, organized and sanitized
• Creates and maintains banquet displays as needed, according to Zingerman's Look & Feel standards
• Gives exceptional service to all customers at our events
• Responds quickly to requests from guests, co-workers, supervisors and managers while being accurate, polite and enthusiastic
• Maintains a professional image at all times through actions and appearance
• Conducts all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Bottom Lines
• Is timely and accurate in completing all assigned responsibilities and training requirements
• Constantly seeks education on all Zingerman's Catering products

The Success Patterns for this position are:

• Bartending experience is required
• Has a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Has a flexible schedule with an ability to sometimes work shifts on short notice
• Is able to follow directions in the moment, under time pressure, with a smile
• Has excellent communication skills
• Has the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and stay focused
• Stays well organized with a strong attention to detail
• Has reliable transportation
• Has a reputation for giving great service to guests and co-workers
• Is passionate about great food and great service
• Is self-motivated, but is also comfortable asking for help
• Has strong interpersonal skills
• Is good at problem solving
• Works very effectively as part of a team
• Works with a sense of urgency when necessary

Physical Requirements:

• Can work long shifts that require standing/walking/bending throughout shift
• Can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
