Zepf Center is Hiring a JDC Mental Health Technician Near Toledo, OH

Description

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for nearly 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician to serve at the Juvenile Detention Center. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for providing mental health services to youth detained in Lucas County Detention Center, including screening for suicide risk, brief crisis intervention, family meetings, therapeutic group interventions, referrals and follow up at discharge, and linkage to 24/7 crisis response as needed for pediatric psychiatric hospitalization.

Essential Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Complete brief crisis interventions on youth requesting mental health services in detention.
  • Perform suicide screenings and assessments on youth in detention.
  • Collaborate with Zepf manager and staff when youth are found to need emergency crisis psychiatric services and linkage to 24/7 services.
  • Provide supportive counseling using various therapeutic skills for youth who may be experiencing a psychological / emotional crisis.
  • Monitor behavioral needs and symptoms.
  • Collaborate with Juvenile Detention Medical Clinic staff, detention officers, etc. to provide appropriate services for youth.
  • Provide consultation on mental health issues, accessing services and intervention strategies as needed to detention and court personnel.
  • Provide Suicide Awareness & Risk training and education to detention staff.
  • Provide information, referral, and linkage services to appropriate community programs as needed.
  • Attend weekly population control meetings (of those detained) and meetings as needed with other court departments and the mental health board as needed for collaboration and problem solving.
  • Collect accurate and consistent data according to the MHRSB database and electronically transfer data on a monthly basis to LCJDC, MHRSB, and Zepf Center.

May be eligible for a bonus if certain conditions apply, including not having worked in Community behavioral health in the last 30 days.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, or a closely related field preferred
  • LISW, LPSS, or LICDC preferred.
  • QMHS certified.
  • Minimum of 3 years mental health experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
