Zentech Manufacturing I is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Near Bloomington, IL

The Manufacturing Engineer is a critical role in processing customer documentation for the purpose of quotations, creating/maintaining standards, new product introduction, process improvement, design for manufacturing, technical support for suppliers, customers and internal team members.

Quotation Responsibilities

  • Review customer documentation and work with the Program Manager and Customers to clarify any questions and obtain documentation needed to perform a complete quote
  • Material Estimation Support
  • Labor Estimation
  • Labor Routing
  • Tooling requirements
  • Special process assessment
  • Creating and maintaining standards for material and labor

New Product Introduction

  • Define packaging methods for new product introductions.
  • Participate in qualification and development of suppliers for components and sub-assemblies
  • Reads and interprets Engineering/Customer drawings, finished prints, specifications, and schematics for proper application to production processes
  • Provide process and documentation related to AS9100 requirements
  • Plans and prepares BOM structure, component part numbers, manufacturing work instructions, routers, process and time standards, which includes sequences of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations with ERP framework.
  • Conduct production feasibility reviews and generate assembly instructions and tooling requirements
  • Confers with suppliers to determine product specifications, arranges for equipment, material and parts purchase.
  • Interface between production and quality to establish a robust and defect free production process, tooling and equipment.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for all customers (internally and externally) and suppliers associated with product and process.

Process Improvement Activities and Design for Manufacturing

  • Work with Supervisor to create and maintain design guidelines to share and discuss with customers
  • Review the customer documentation with the tools available to identify opportunities to improve design for cost, process and quality improvements
  • Work closely with Process Engineers to maintain standards and improve processes
  • Process and manage ECN’s for customer changes
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
 

Position Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in college or technical school in an engineering discipline and or three years related experience
  • Experience in electronics contract manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Experience in a process engineering role is a plus
  • Ability to effectively mentor employees at all levels
  • Ability to drive solutions to complex planning issues with limited supervision
  • Experience with PCB, SMT, PTH, Inspection and Test equipment/processes is a plus
  • Computer experience especially proficiency in Excel
  • Effective analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Available for travel up to 10% of the time, including day and overnight as required 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers or customer with direction and oversight
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take on project leadership / ownership
  • Proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism when representing the company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well individually or in teams
  • Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools
  • Computer literate including MS Office Suite -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to easily learn new software applications including ERP and various design tools
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as we are an ITAR facility
