OVERVIEW:

Our client, a US Fortune 250 company and a global medical technology corporation serving customers in Clinical Labs, Health care research & Pharmaceutical industry, seeks an accomplished EHS Specialist II.

Position: EHS Specialist II

Location: San Diego CA 92121

Duration: 6 Months contract with possible extension

Pay Rate: $28/hr - $34/hr (depending on experience)

Job Description:

• Onsite role: Monday – Friday
• Shift: 7AM - 3 PM
• As the EHS Specialist II, you will prepare and/or assist in preparing policies and procedures in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
• You have knowledge in EHS Programs, including but not limited to, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Ergonomics, Training, Risk Assessment, and Emergency Response.
• Perform routine tasks with little instruction and supervision, and general instruction on new assignments.
• This position will work closely with both senior internal and external personnel.
• Conduct EHS walk through frequently including documentation and follow-up as needed.
• Complete monthly EHS reports
• Support incident investigations including near miss events, compliance issues, work-related injuries and/or illnesses.
• Support site's Ergonomics Program. Act as liaison to associates and others receiving or requesting ergonomic evaluations.
• Provide guidance on EHS Training Programs
• Review associate EHS Observations.
• Support the sites Hazardous Waste Program
• Maintain working knowledge of local, State and Federal Regulations that apply to our operations including but not limited to Federal OSHA, EPA and California Health and Safety Code.

Job Requirement:

• Minimum 3 years of related experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, or biotech or medical device manufacturing environment with safety and/or environmental responsibilities.
• Experience working around hazardous waste programs strongly preferred.
• Familiar with DHS, OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Air Quality, and Water Pollution regulations, preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to organize work and establish priorities.
• Effective customer service skills.
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Must be proficient working with PCs. Requires good command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and the Internet.
