Job Overview

The Lead Barista is instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of our beverage operations. This role encompasses the development of our beverage program, leading training initiatives, managing inventory, and ensuring that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently upheld to maintain the high quality for which Zak The Baker is renowned. The Lead Barista reports to the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.

Main Role & Responsibilities : 

• Development: Leads the creative development and execution of our beverage program under the direction of the Assistant General Manager and General Manager, ensuring consistency and excellence.
• Training: Provides in-depth training to new and existing staff on beverage preparation, equipment maintenance, and customer service standards.
• Inventory Management: Oversees daily stock levels to ensure the beverage station remains fully equipped with paper goods, drinks, and essential mise en place, including syrups, juices, iced tea, cold brew, chai, and other specialty beverages. Conducts a monthly inventory check of all beverage-related items, including coffee, teas, sodas, tools, and paper goods, and reports any shortages or discrepancies.
• SOP Adherence: Monitors the adherence to SOPs, ensuring that all beverages are prepared to the highest standards. Supervises opening and closing duties of the shifts and ensures completion. 
• Customer Service Excellence: Sets the gold standard for customer service, ensuring that every guest receives a warm welcome, efficient service, and leaves with a lasting positive impression.
• Production: Ensure that syrups, fresh juices, and specialty drinks are consistently prepared according to SOPs and recipe guidelines.
• Team Collaboration: Works closely with other team members, assisting with roles such as register, expo, host, runner, busser, as required. Helps ensure the overall smooth operation of the cafe.
• Maintenance & Equipments: Ensures that all beverage station equipment is kept in good condition by following defined preventative maintenance guidelines and daily cleaning SOPs.
• Safety & Cleanliness: Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the beverage station, equipment, and storage areas. Ensures that all safety protocols are followed, with equipment being used and maintained correctly. Is responsible for maintaining compliance with defined food safety regulations. 
• Communication: Ensures seamless communication between the beverage team, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager. This includes shift reports, inventory updates, and any challenges faced during operations. Participates at Line up with the leadership team to update the team on any relevant information related to the beverage station.
• Upholds and complies with all company policies and communicates cases of non-compliance to the Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager.
• Participates in upholding and contributing to a constructive, positive and productive work culture
• The Lead Barista reports to the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
• Assumes any other duties as identified by the company, ensuring the continuous improvement of our beverage operations.
