Zacros America Hedwin Division is Hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist Near Reno, NV

The Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring that materials and products meet quality checks and requirements before going to market, assessing the condition of the product in the raw material stage through to the finished or completed product. The Quality Specialist confirms that the product is not damaged or has defects using testing, measurement equipment, and visual inspections.

The Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring the control of nonconforming products and/or materials within the Zacros facility. Routinely coordinates between the Production, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, Supply Chain Teams, and 3rd party Suppliers to ensure the proper identification, containment, and disposition of nonconforming materials (including raw materials, WIP and finished goods). Performs initial investigations and risk assessments, documents immediate corrections, and presents proposed dispositions to Quality Engineers.

The Quality Specialist prepares Rework instructions, Lab Test Requests, Supplier Corrective Action Requests and other associated documentation, to ensure the timely reinspection or repair of nonconforming product. Logs all Nonconforming Material Reports (NCRs) for input to Quality Engineering and provides insight on the need for Corrective Actions and Continuous Improvement. This position is critically important in ensuring nonconforming product does not escape to customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor product quality via visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and functional testing.
  • Verify work orders for all production lines.
  • Maintain tools, gauges, and testing equipment, verifying all are calibrated prior to use.
  • Collect and electronically enter data from product monitoring, using entered data for submission to batch records.
  • Use forms to document product monitor data (not collected electronically) for submission to batch records.
  • Create non-conformance reports, as required.
  • Ensures nonconforming product is properly recorded and communicated through NCR process
  • Ensures product is appropriately identified to indicate status (red tagged, labeled, etc.)
  • Ensures proper scanning and movement between nonconforming/conforming inventory locations, reconciles inventory following rework
  • Coordinates with the Warehouse to ensure physical segregation (where possible) and disposition of materials (scrap, return to vendor, etc.)
  • Maintains the NCR log and provide updates on NCR inventory status and disposition
  • Reviews nonconforming inventory to determine risk and appropriate disposition
  • Prepares rework plans and associated paperwork for product correction (sorting, sampling, testing, etc.)
  • Directly communicates with Suppliers on Supplier Corrective Action Requests and requests Vendor Return Material Authorizations
  • Reconciles inventory following rework
  • Assists Quality Engineering with the identification of Corrective Actions
  • Any other tasks, as assigned by Management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hold the authority to determine if material or product meets the organization’s requirements and the ability to accept or reject the product.
  • Hold the authority to remove product from the production floor, or tag as unacceptable for use any tools or equipment that is damaged or out of calibration.
  • Hold the authority to dismiss Production personnel performing NCR rework or reinspection

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Quality Technology, Engineering Technology, or similar field preferred
  • 3-5 Years experience performing inspection techniques, statistics, experimental design, auditing, problem solving, and equipment handling strongly preferred.
  • Experience interpreting specifications and resolving technical issues required.
  • Proficient skills in math, computers, and information technology required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate to all levels of employees.
  • A positive attitude while effectively communicating with technical and non-technical employees.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and bend up to 50%
  • Fine finger dexterity to calibrate and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to complete repetitive hand and wrist movement.

Working Conditions:

  • Combined office, laboratory, and warehouse environment
  • Requires exposure to equipment noise and dust.
