Group Quality Control Manager

Position Summary:

The Group Quality Control Manager (or Area Quality Control Manager) leads the quality efforts for construction projects. This encompasses resolving quality issues, ensuring compliance with code requirements, overseeing installations and repairs, and leading the entire quality team. The role also involves initiating quality improvements, conducting assessments, and facilitating training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster clear communication with the on-site Quality and Project Management Teams, spanning across the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Owner teams.
• Collaborate with Employee Relations on screening potential candidates and allocating qualified Quality Control personnel to projects.
• Assist Quality Assurance in crafting site-specific quality plans and participating in project initiation.
• Identify and select appropriate Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and checklists for subcontractors.
• Guide the on-site Quality Team in developing and executing project quality strategies.
• Address and resolve concerns by communicating with crucial stakeholders.
• Monitor quality indicators, unresolved issues, and quality incidents.
• Lead or assist investigations for significant quality challenges, including reporting findings.
• Coordinate external inspections like Authorized Inspection (AI), local/state inspections, and vendor checks.
• Address technical queries and aid in understanding construction standards and owner specifications.
• Oversee processes related to Co-Console and ZPTS (Completions and Weld Tracking Programs).

Qualifications:

• Level I, II, or III inspection certification(s) or a minimum of 10 years’ related experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Blue Beam.
• Fundamental understanding of heavy industrial construction processes.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to identify issues, including quality and safety concerns.
• Competence in interpreting blueprints, manuals, and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications not required:

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Current CWI, CIP, ACI, NACE, and/or API certification(s)
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, and email. Arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension are required. May be required to lift, carry and move small objects safely. Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will work in a general office environment in Zachry’s San Antonio home office. Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility when utilizing desktop computers or reading paper documents.
