zaas is Hiring an Injection Molding Process Technician - 3rd Shift Near Grand Rapids, MI

Shift: 6pm – 6:10am (working 3 days one week, 4 days the next and every other weekend)

Scope of Responsibility:
In this role, you will be responsible for performing color changes, start up and mold changes of injection molding equipment. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance and expand your technical skills and abilities.

You will work on some of the largest plastic injection molding machines in the world! This is an opportunity to thrive in an environment where you're on your feet and active, challenge through problem-solving while working with large-scale plastic molding presses.

General Responsibilities:
Routine Tasks – Executes the startup of plastic injection molding equipment, ensuring the prompt and precise installation and removal of injection molds while adhering to quality and safety protocols. Also responsible for color changes, cleaning hoppers and moisture checks.
Machine Adjustments - Performs mold changes safely and efficiently. Has the ability to determine the appropriate Knock Outs/Ejector Bars setup. Knows why and how to inspect platen holes, bolts, cranes, and chains. Has the ability to hook up water, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic lines and verify all auxiliary equipment is functioning as intended. Has the ability to make repairs to auxiliary lines including replacing lines, replacing O-rings, and replacing fittings.

Continuous Improvement - Working in a team environment, you will investigate molding defects like flash and short shots, recognizing opportunities for continuous improvement. Communicate any tooling issues to both the Shift Supervisor and the team's Process Engineer.

Documentation - Guarantee comprehensive documentation of all processes and execute the processing of injection molding machines in accordance with process sheet specifications. Working in a team environment, you will investigate molding defects like flash and short shots, recognizing opportunities for continuous improvement. Communicate any tooling issues to both the Shift Supervisor and the team's Process Engineer.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; or equivalent experience (3 years of Plastics Technology)
  • Valid Driver’s license or be able to use all 4 limbs such as arms, legs (upper and lower limbs), torso/trunk at the shoulder. Have coordination of eyes, hands and feet. Not have any known/documented convulsive disorders and corrected vision (obtain doctor’s note verifying proof of the corrected vision)
  • Must have basic reading and writing skills
  • Must have basic technical math skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • At least 1 year prior experience in Material Handling; specifically working with raw resins (plastics) is preferred
  • Must have 1 – 2 years’ experience in forklift driving
  • Must have basic mechanical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have basic computer knowledge, specifically using Microsoft Office products
  • Strong attention to detail is required

Preferred Education, Experience and Cultural Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Plastics is preferred
  • Previous Lock Out/Tag Out experience is preferred
  • Previous die setting experience, with injection molds, is strongly preferred
  • Previous Routsis or Paulson training is preferred
  • Prior certification in Overhead Chain and Crane is preferred
