Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the Housing Mental Health Counselor plays a pivotal role in offering essential support to those grappling with homelessness, domestic violence, and other housing-related challenges. This position demands a blend of compassion and expertise in mental health counseling.

FLSA Category: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 Annually.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct customized counseling sessions (individual, parent-child, group).
  • Employ evidence-based methods for mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma.
  • Provide crisis intervention and immediate support.
  • Collaborate with housing and clinical teams for holistic client support plans.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of client interactions.
  • Coordinate with local service providers for client care solutions.
  • Ensure service accessibility to YWCA housing program clients.
  • Adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards.
  • Utilize technology efficiently for case management.
  • Execute additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Preferred
Master’s degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field with NY State licensure; 2 years of relevant experience; Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in social work with NY State licensure; 2 years of relevant experience; Strong communication, flexibility, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain a current Licensure or Valid Permit in either Mental Health Counseling or Social Work and complete all necessary continuing education requirements as determined by the New York State Office of Professions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Tolerance for high noise levels.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, sitting, and computer usage.
  • Occasional driving for work-related errands.

Other Requirements:

  • Use of own vehicle during work hours.
  • Completion of all mandated role-related employment eligibility forms and checks.
