Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the lead cleaner who reports to the Maintenance Team Director, the Cleaner plays a crucial role in upholding the cleanliness standards of the office spaces and common areas across the YWCA NENY campus.
FLSA Category: Non-Exempt
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, ensuring the cleanliness of common areas, restrooms, hallways, and other indoor spaces.
- Restock paper towels, soap, and toilet paper as needed to maintain hygiene standards. Safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment to maintain a safe environment.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from YWCA clients and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and communicate needs to the head cleaner.
- Collaborate with the lead cleaner to coordinate cleaning activities.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Utilize excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment when using cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Possession of a clean NYS driver’s license with the ability to operate agency non-commercial vehicles.
- Six months or more of residential or commercial housekeeping experience.
- Prior experience in facility maintenance is desirable.
- OSHA Training certification or willingness to become certified.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and move furniture during cleaning tasks.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals.
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina are required for the job.
- Willingness to perform frequent bending, pushing, lifting, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs.
Additional requirements:
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Driving Required – A clean driving record with NYS Driving abstract must be provided within 30 days of employment.
