How does this position make an impact on the community? YWCA Missoula is a mighty force of approximately 80 staff, over 200 volunteers, as well as practicum and intern students. We depend on our Director of Housing to support this force to carry out the YWCA mission for women and families facing poverty, violence and discrimination. As the Director of Housing, you will lead the organization’s housing programs and initiatives both internally and externally with our community. As a leader, you will grow YWCA Missoula's capacity to do action-based work that eliminates racism and creates a just and inclusive society for our underserved populations in the Missoula and surrounding communities facing inequities both socially and in housing.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Deep working knowledge of systemic inequity and successful social change practices specific to housing and houseless challenges.
  • Strong and efficient workload management skills to include planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following through on a variety of tasks while maintaining professional composure.
  • Considerable experience facilitating difficult conversations and designing inclusive processes and procedures for individuals and families in the housing programs.
  • Demonstrated deep commitment to racial equity and justice, and familiarity with racial equity and justice principles.
  • Knowledge of grant administration procedures, including methods of cost allocation and government standards applying to non-profit fiscal operations.
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required. Bachelor’s degree or other higher education preferred.

More about what you'll do in this role:

  • Develops Family Housing Center, Rapid Re-Housing, and Transitional Housing policies and
  • Monitors YWCA systems within the housing programs to maximize efficiency and minimize waste; generates ideas for improvement
  • Represents YWCA in the community, advocating for the best interests of YWCA program participants.
  • Assist with policy and program evaluations through an equity lens.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Availability to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal skills, both with large groups and interpersonally.
  • Willingness to travel in and out of state as needed.
  • Must pass a background check designed to protect the interest of women and children served by the YWCA programs.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in social sciences, human services, or a related field; or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent diploma required.

What else you should know: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The base wage for this position starts at $67,000 – higher annual salary would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
