YWCA Greater Cincinnati is Hiring a Building Engineering Specialist Near Cincinnati, OH

We are looking for an organized, determined and motivated candidate to join our team as the Building Engineering Specialist.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities, this position must be proficient and versatile in trouble shooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on specialized building equipment and systems. Including: boilers, chillers, building automated controls, AHU’s, VAV’s pumps and refrigeration units. The HVAC Technician will also be knowledgeable in one or more building trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, kitchen appliances, and life safety.

  • Maintain and repair buildings’ HVAC systems, including replacing worn or defective parts, such as motors, switches, fuses, contacts, wiring, etc.
  • Understand Building Automation Systems and have the ability to identify problems and present proactive solutions.
  • Working knowledge of building controls.
  • Measures superheat temperatures and makes superheat adjustments.
  • Operate refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment and service gauges.
  • Replaces burned out light bulbs, checks electrical circuits, repair dimmers, refrigeration controls and contacts.
  • Ability to use volt, ohm meter and read electrical schematics.
  • Ability to wire motors and motor controls.
  • Fabricates office partitions, doors, cornices, counters, panel walls and ceilings.
  • Building offices, Painting drywall. Installing flooring
  • Performances all maintenance necessary to keep all locks and locking devices in functional and safe operating condition.
  • Installs, connects, and tests sanitary plumbing fixtures, fire sprinklers, hydraulics, refrigeration, various gases, steam and other pressure systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work orders according to the schedule and plan.
  • Complete and submit paperwork in a timely manner, so that the CMMS can be properly updated,
  • Taking ownership of inventory and making materials list.
  • Grounds and yard work Mowing, pulling weeds, Snow removal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

  • 5 years level experience
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and develop teamwork.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate is required, five or more years of mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Universal EPA certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong construction background.

Licenses/Credentials/Certifications

  • Required Universal EPA certification.
  • 5 years’ experience in facilities HVAC maintenance and/or commercial/industrial construction required.
  • Applicant must have strong background in refrigeration systems troubleshooting and repairs required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working Hours/Environment

  • On call Rotation.
  • Weekend availability as Needed.
  • Work schedule is Monday-Friday

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to crawl into tight areas.
  • Working in all kinds of Weather Hot/Cold/snow/Wet
  • Ability to stand for over 8 hours
  • Lifting overhead.
  • Ability to lift 55lbs
  • Ladder work.

Travel

  • Minimal – travel to various work sites in the Greater Cincinnati area
