Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position performs duties and responsibilities related to providing technical assistance, support and training to employees, students and others; providing first-line problem diagnosis, resolution and incident tracking of User Support Services requests; supporting district users in the development and implementation of various web and print communications using industry specific tools and technologies; maintaining a centralized process for hardware/software purchases and providing office and clerical support.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Work is performed under the direction of an administrator or designated IT personnel. Duties may involve diagnosing easy to moderate technical tasks requiring general information technology skills in a variety of the assigned work areas. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, hardware and software associated with computers, copiers, print and bindery equipment, peripheral devices such as printers and scanners, and network and telecommunication devices.
Essential Duties Summary:REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Utilizes the District established service request system to maintain records of user requests for support that detail hardware and software configurations and any changes that are applied, for all desktop, laptop, mobile systems, and associated hardware. (E)2. Maintains accurate records of assigned service requests, i.e., service time, materials used, solutions/outcome, etc.; communicates status of requests and periodically collects statistical survey data on end-user satisfaction. (E)3. Analyzes, detects, diagnoses, and resolves PC, peripheral and application errors with users through remote access, over the phone, via email or other written communication; triages complex problems to the appropriate technical support areas for further assistance. (E)4. Operate high speed duplicator/copiers and related equipment in the reproduction of a variety of printed materials. (E)5. Organize and provide individual and group training to support users in the use of technology including graphic design software. (E)6. Coordinate project production of digital and printed materials. (E)7. Research, recommend, compose, and refine web content. (E)8. Operate, maintain, and provide minor repairs for related equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, binders, collators, cutters, addressing and mailing equipment. Arrange for other repairs and maintenance if needed. (E)9. Assist in supporting the learning management system and integrated third party applications where possible and triage complex problems to 2nd Tier support or the vendor. (E)10. Coordinate the office and administrative functions of the IT department; communicate between the management, faculty, staff, and the community; provide liaison assistance with the DE Program; assist in resolving problems and concerns. (E)
11. Arrange, coordinate, and schedule a variety of meetings, appointments and special or regular events including technical trainings, marketing booths, seminars, and conferences. (E)12. Prepares a variety of complex support materials including survey results, reports, forms, charts, computerized presentations, technical guidelines, and training materials; prepares agenda items for meetings; records, prepares and distributes minutes and maintains records. (E)13. Review office activities, policies, systems, and procedures and recommend changes. (E)14. May assist in budget formulations and preparation; monitor and maintain budget expenditures; coordinate distribution of awards and grant funds; process budget transfers, un-encumbrances, purchase orders, travel arrangements and travel reimbursements.15. Maintains a centralized process for the purchase of hardware and software; locates vendors, obtains quotes, prepares purchase orders, and tracks purchases from request to installation. (E)16. Utilizes appropriate software to design marketing collateral for the web and print including banner graphics, posters, brochures, and fliers. (E)17. Maintain inventory record of supplies and materials; order and maintain office supplies and equipment; prepare and process purchase requisitions according to approved procedures. (E)18. Provide work direction and work schedule to student assistants as assigned; verify and monitor hours worked and submit to appropriate personnel.19. Performs duties from provided plans, sketches, schematics, blueprints, or other forms of diagrammatic representations. (E)20. Maintains a level of formal and self-training in order to remain effective and knowledgeable with current technologies, standards, and codes. (E)21. Maintains a line of open communication with supervisor regarding all technical issues that might cause or are causing poor system performance. (E)22. Strives to provide continuous improvement of technical service support. (E)23. May serve on a variety of District committees as requested.24. May be required to drive between YCCD locations.25. May perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF: District policies and procedures; PC and Mac hardware operation and maintenance; operation of multi-function copiers, binding/finishing machines and printing equipment; operating procedures and configuration of software and network applications; proper grammar usage, spelling, vocabulary and basic mathematics; record-keeping, data entry, digital file and content management; applicable state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines associated with the use of information systems. Word processing and graphics design for print and web-based publication. Methods, processes, operation and use of U.S. postage classes and rates. Basic budgeting practices regarding monitoring and control.
ABILITY TO: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; maintain state-of-the-art technology with respect to platforms and software applications; independently diagnose and resolve technical problems with end-users; learn the proper operating procedures for all major information systems used by the District; understand and apply District and departmental policies and procedures; integrate state laws and regulations with department policies and procedures; analyze and research problems and make appropriate recommendations; integrate and implement program needs within parameters of District policies, procedures and regulations; utilize keyboarding skills commensurate with the required functions for this position; independently compose correspondence and reports utilizing advanced software and techniques; acquire and maintain technical knowledge of modern office procedures, equipment and computer programs; work independently with an emphasis on detail; prioritize work load and meet deadlines; make decisions; independently apply good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential, difficult and sensitive situations; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work. Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of digital duplicating, mailing, and related equipment.
Required Qualifications:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree or the equivalent;1 OR
The completion of a formal trade apprenticeship program; OR
A Certificate of Achievement in computer science, management or business information systems, or a related field AND graduation from high school, GED, or the equivalent.2
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Hold and maintain a valid drivers license throughout duration of employment with the District.

Associates Degree in computer science, management or business information systems, or a related field or the equivalent.
A Certificate of Achievement in user support or customer service, computer science, management or business information systems, or a related field.
One (1) year of work experience closely related to the duties and responsibilities of this class.

Salary Range: $3,725.16/MO - $4,106.99/MO
Benefits Information:
PART-TIME (less than .60 FTE): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits. The District does however; provide the employee prorated leaves including vacation, sick leave and paid holidays. Employees less than .50 FTE contribute to an Alternative Retirement System (Apple). Employees whose, FTE is between .50 and .60 contribute to the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
BENEFITS/SALARY: The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependents for positions whose FTE is .60 or higher, valued at over $24,000 annually with a $310.50 monthly out of pocket expense to employees dependents for their monthly medical premiums. The package includes health, dental, vision, one (1) life insurance policy and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), which is integrated with Social Security, 457/403b options, Vacation days - 7.33 hrs per month for the first year, 96 hours of vacation leave per years 1-5, 12 sick days and 20 holidays.
SALARY : Step 1: $44,701.95/YR. - Step 3:$49,283.90 Range 31, CSEA Salary Schedule, initial placement will not be higher than Step 3 of the salary schedule, the top step for this position is $3,629.98/MO
WORKING CONDITIONS : Categorically funded positions are contingent upon funding. In accordance to Board Policy, smoking is restricted in many areas of the Yuba Community College District. Woodland Community College is a tobacco free campus.
