Yuba Community College District is Hiring an Early Childhood Education Instructor - Full Time - Tenure Track Near Marysville, CA

Job Description:
Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative instructor to serve as an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Faculty. This is an open position, and we are seeking an instructor who can continue to support and enhance the ECE program at the college.
As one of two colleges in the Yuba Community College District, Yuba College provides high quality career education and transfer preparation programs to our community. Our main campus is located in Marysville, CA, and our Sutter County Center is located in Yuba City, CA. The area is an emerging region engaged in community revitalization with close proximity to the Sierra Nevada for outdoor recreation and access to the metropolitan areas of Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The College is excited about its status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and serves our smaller local communities surrounding Yuba and Sutter counties, including Arboga, Gridley, Live Oak, Nicolas, Plumas Lake, Wheatland, etc. The College serves over 8,000 unduplicated students annually in multiple associate's degree and certificate programs. YC prides itself on an innovative, student-centered faculty and partnerships with school districts and four-year colleges in its service area. The small college setting provides an advantage for faculty and staff to adapt to new instructional methods and processes and to foster strong interdisciplinary collaborations that benefit students.
Yuba College seeks a strong, well-rounded, equity-minded Early Childhood Education educator. The ideal candidate will demonstrate potential to be an excellent instructor, leader, and collaborator at a community college. As part of providing quality ECE education, this faculty member will provide lecture and laboratory instruction; design curriculum; implement effective assessment practices; and maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
Essential Duties Summary:
The person selected will be expected to organize and teach all levels of lecture and laboratory Early Childhood Education classes; prepare complete course syllabi and outlines; actively participate with the ECE Advisory Committee and child development agencies; facilitate student learning by working to develop every students abilities and by designing varied and motivation learning environments, which may include Distance Learning (interactive television and online courses); participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees; be committed to, and participate in, the shared-governance process.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, at California Community Colleges:
Possess a masters degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR
Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies OR
The equivalent; OR
Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Child Development/Early Childhood Education.
EQUIVALENCY: The District has adopted equivalency procedures which enable applications by individuals not possessing qualifications listed above. Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to applicants who have:
At least 2 years teaching experience in a center-based program;
Additional student or teaching/administrative experience which would provide them with the ability_ to plan and direct a child development center used as an educational laboratory;
Have the Childrens Center permit or be eligible for the permit.
Bilingual in Spanish or other language represented in our student population.
Physical Demands:
Range/Step: Class 2, Step 1 - Class 6, Step 10 (New Hires will not be placed higher than step 10).
Salary Range: $61,595 - $95,002/YR. (Per Salary Schedule for Full Time Faculty).
