Youth Oasis is Hiring an Overnight Residential Assistant Near Baton Rouge, LA

Job Description:

Overnight Residential Assistant - Youth Services

Agency Information Location: Youth Services Community Programs

Reports to: Program Assistant Compliance & Financial Management

Hours: Varies – Overnight & Some weekends (Overnight)

Wage: $12 - $15.45 per hour (based on experience)

Job Mission

This position contributes to the mission of Youth Oasis by supporting youth through data entry. overnight supervision, and through connecting. The Overnight Residential Assistant (ORA) focuses on getting youth’s private information into our database for reporting purposes.

  • Positive Impact: Have a passion for Youth Oasis’ mission and vision; a belief in the capacity for a young person to change; display a positive attitude.
  • Learning Agility: Seeks to improve knowledge, skills, and abilities in related service areas; implement core principles and evidence-based practices including, but not limited to: Positive Youth Development, Trauma Informed Care, Restorative practices, and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

  • Active Listening: Ability to effectively work independently and in partnership with team members; ability to communicate effectively with youth, and others.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Engagement:

  • Meeting youth and ensuring that the environment is safe, clean, and ready for the next shift.
  • Monitor youth to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Administering Morning Medication
  • Problem Solving and being a support to our youth

Team Collaboration:

  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Participate in weekly Care Team meetings
  • Actively participate in group discussions and meetings
  • Present ideas and problem solving skills

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. While performing these job duties, the employee is regularly required to listen to others and provide verbal feedback. The employee is required to frequently sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, climb, or balance.

Qualifications

Skills and Training:

  • Must have at least intermediate computer skills
  • Must have experience working with youth or families
  • Must have experience working computers and tablets
  • Must have experience using Zoom or similar software
  • Must have experience using G-Suite
  • Educational training or degree in psychology, social work, sociology, social services, or related field
  • Previous training in Positive Youth Development, Domestic Violence, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction or Trauma Informed Care.

Characteristics and Attributes:

  • Must be a self-starter
  • Must be a critical thinker
  • Must be willing to have a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the youth and program to include evenings and weekends

Other Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have an active driver’s license
  • Must have dependable transportation
  • Must be willing to travel at least 75% of the time
  • Must be willing to meet clients in their homes and/or community
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Data Entry preferred but now required:
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with technology ie Gmail, excel, word, erc.
  • Demonstrated experience providing great customer/client service
