Join YFU as a Community Manager and Transform Lives!

Are you an independent, outgoing, and conscientious entrepreneur eager to make a meaningful impact on young lives in Minnesota or Iowa? We have the perfect opportunity for you! If you do not live in these states currently, please review other possible openings in your geographic area. YFU USA does not sponsor visas; you must be eligible to work in the USA and reside in the noted area to be considered for this position.

The Role: Creating Lifelong Connections

As a Youth For Understanding USA (YFU) Community Manager (CM), you'll embark on an exciting journey to connect international high school students with American host families. You'll do more than just manage; you'll cultivate family experiences, introduce young minds to American culture, and guide them in conquering the challenges of studying abroad.

Your primary mission: Build and lead a powerhouse team of local coordinators (LCs) who, under your guidance, will take the lead in recruiting volunteer host families across the United States. You'll mentor and inspire this dynamic group, offering unwavering support through communication, training, and coaching.

Dive into the hearts of individuals and families eager to host international exchange students, ensuring they meet YFU's requirements and guiding them seamlessly through the recruitment process. Once your team has found the perfect match, you’ll continue to guide and assist with administrative tasks to ensure compliance with the US Department of State and YFU guidelines.

Tell me more: Your Journey as a Community Manager
Our CMs are passionate relationship builders, navigating the intricate landscape of their region's geography and school policies. They are the driving force behind local success stories, motivating others to achieve their goals. You'll thrive on networking, forging connections within your schools and communities, and quickly adapting to new technologies.

With your self-motivated, results-driven mindset, you and your team of local coordinators will leave an indelible mark, helping YFU achieve its placement goals. Your exceptional organizational skills, results-oriented approach, and knack for inspiring others will shine in this fast-paced environment.

Your Adventure Begins Here: Training & Rewards

After joining our team, you will be trained on all aspects of YFU’s program, including recruiting host families and matching families with international students to ensure a positive experience for all parties. During this training period, you will get up close and personal with YFU host families and learn what it takes to make a lasting match between YFU families and students.

First-year CMs are provided a base salary of $40,000, with performance targets established at hire. Our most successful CM's earn salaries of eighty thousand annually.

About You: The Spark We’re Looking For
At YFU, we believe that diversity drives excellence, and there's no such thing as a "perfect" candidate. If any of the following statements resonate with you, we encourage you to apply:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of previous experience in related roles (sales, volunteer management, recruitment, etc.)
  • The ability to produce results under tight deadlines
  • A natural talent for networking and communication
  • Building strong connections across cultures and backgrounds is your forte
  • Willingness to travel 2-4 times a year for hands-on recruitment, training, and team events
  • A solid work ethic and a high level of accountability
  • The power to inspire others with your passion, positivity, and desire to help them grow and achieve their goals
