Youth Development Company/PAL is Hiring an After School Program Coordinator Near Bangor, MI

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Youth Development Company/PAL is seeking a dynamic OST Program Coordinator passionate about supporting students to lead our out of school time programs. In this role, you’ll work in schools to directly help students overcome learning loss and ensure OST program effectiveness.

YDC/PAL partners with schools to provide students with purposeful extended learning experiences led by inspirational mentors. The OST Program Coordinator is committed to co-creating and implementing impactful mentoring, recreational, and educational support services to enhance student achievement and build local talent pipelines.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:

In this role, you will:

  • Support YDC PAL partners K-12 schools and integrate the OST team, OST Site Supervisors, and school-level staff.
  • Act as a mentor for Site Supervisors by providing direction, support, and encouragement in all aspects of OST programs.
  • Monitor all elements of implementation for an OST program, including but not limited to OST staff attendance, performance, material distribution, and student achievement through progress monitoring.
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or coordinate new hire orientation and training as necessary.
  • Observe OST staff during small group instruction; provide performance coaching to ensure effective classroom management and growth in student achievement.
  • Complete required documentation following school visits.
  • Communicate and meet consistently with OST Site Supervisors and OST Program Administrator to provide updates on progress, potential issues, and program concerns.
  • Inform OST Program Administrator about changes at programs you support, including program observations, related to school administration and staff concerns, staff performance and attendance, program setup, changes, and/or program effectiveness.
  • Provide OST Mentors with applicable solutions to behavioral or educational problems arising during student instruction.
  • Provide coaching opportunities to Site Supervisors to improve instruction and student learning, including modeling best practices, co teaching, and small group strategies, observing and reflecting, collaborative planning, and more.
  • Complete activity observation forms and action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Make data-informed decisions to adjust activity instruction, focusing on YDCs goals for student success.
  • Assist with completing, collecting, and distributing periodic (bi-weekly, monthly, mid-program, and end-of-program) reporting information for reports and surveys.
  • Oversee Site Supervisors related to tracking and approving OST staff documentation and timecard submissions.
  • Support collaboration efforts for YDC internal teams (Business Development, Recruiting, Curriculum, Logistics, and Accounting) and YDC stakeholders (district partners and personnel at school sites).
  • Support OST Program Administrator and Recruiting Specialist in placing newly recommended OST staff.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with Site Supervisors throughout orientation and training.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with school administration and staff.
  • Attend partner meetings when appropriate.
  • Complete other duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a successful OST Program Coordinator, you must have a passion for advocating for and helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree
  • Commit to working 35-40 hours each week
  • At least 2-3 years of experience working in a K-12 educational setting OR
  • Any similar combination of education and experience
  • Prior supervisory and project management experience is preferred.
  • K-12 Teaching: 2 years (preferred)
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License
  • Current first Aid/CPR Certification (or within 3 months of employment)
  • Strong Math and English skills (K-12).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • An understanding of instructional pedagogies and methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills (Intermediate level - Microsoft Office Suites, Google Workspace)
  • Good time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong ability to work independently, with little supervision, and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Building relationships on trust and respect.
  • Knowledge of high-impact instructional practices and recognizing them in program activities.
  • Be local to North Berrien and Van Buren county.
