Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is one of the largest non-profit Youth and Family Support agencies working with high-risk youth and their families in the United States. Our mission is to engage human service systems so that they rely less on institutional care and to invest more in supporting families and neighborhoods. We currently work with child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, disability, and education systems to develop and offer community-based alternatives for the highest-risk children, young people, young adults, and families.

Job Descriptions:

Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a non-traditional way of providing intense individualized mental health interventions and support services in a variety of community-based settings to children/adolescents with psychiatric diagnoses and their families. These settings include, but are not limited to, home, school, community settings (camp, daycare, etc.). The BHT is supervised by a qualified mental health professional, participates as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, and implements specific treatment goals. Their goal is to implement sound clinical interventions and supportive services to enable children/adolescents to maintain and function to the best of their ability in the least restrictive setting.

Job Requirements – Must meet one of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and will complete 40 plus hours training
  • OR
  • Minimum 2 years experience in providing behavioral health services
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related disciplines welcomed

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be extremely organized
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be professional, flexible, and have the ability to work independently.
  • The position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and car insurance.
  • Bonus paid for new hires who complete the RBT certificate prior to official hire.
