The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families. Facility amenities include a large cardio and weight floor, full-court basketball gym, three fitness studios, and a state of the art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river. 

The Day Camp Staff is responsible for assisting with the planning, leading and implementing of program experiences for youth in a group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. This will include staff for Youth Activity Center (YAC) and Climbing Wall as well.

Responsibilities:

• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents using the Y voice attributes.
• Create an environment that fosters safety through supervision and by role modeling safe behaviors.
• Implement the established curriculum that achieves the five Cause Measurement goals.
• Resolve camper and parent concerns and issues. Follow appropriate incident response procedures.
• Organize, supervise and facilitate youth in a variety of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate in an outdoor and indoor programing, in a variety of weather condition.
• Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in assigned program areas.
• Maintain program site equipment and required program records.
• Adheres to program standards including and cleanliness standards. 

Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Preferred High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting preferred.
• Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 6-8 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday, and Saturdays - AM and PM shifts.
