Established in 1973, YCD is a nonprofit organization who serves residents of all ages living in the most historically underserved communities of San Francisco. YCD takes a holistic approach via a delivery eco-system of services designed to empower residents in achieving economic mobility, in turn building and sustaining a positive community by providing them with education opportunities, workforce development training, and social services. Project Overview
School Crisis Intervention Program supports SFUSD middle and high school students before, during and after school and connects them to services and supports. School Crisis Intervention Program will also work in communities and collaborate with other community-based organizations and entities that assist in supporting youth and young adults.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Violence Interrupter Program Coordinator, the Violence Interrupter (VI) position will offer various levels of support to students and faculty. The VI will provide assistance in various situations that occur at school and outside of school. They will also support in relaying critical intelligence and information to the School Crisis Intervention Program extended team. This position is contract-based and scheduled to end June 30, 2024, with a pending 5-year extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide mentoring/mediation support to SFUSD students during school hours
Provide one-on-one and group sessions for youth
Provide classroom observation and support
Provide support during IEP meetings, expulsion hearings, and reentry planning
Provide check-in with students and guardians
Attend safety planning and training with T-10 Officers
Prepare reports for DCYF-CMS and weekly citywide weekly coordination meetings
Participate in mandatory Citywide trainings and professional development
Participate in weekly youth services and support meetings
Connect youth to additional services as identified by the School Crisis Support Team
Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
A successful candidate will possess:
High School Diploma required. Some college experience or Community Health Worker Certificate are highly desired.
Ability to work between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm at SFUSD school sites
Proof of complete COVID-19 vaccine, TB Test clearance, fingerprint clearance, valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance
Ability to travel to all SFUSD school sites as required
Demonstrated familiarity with the District 10 community via prior community work or high school attendance
Bilingual, English/Spanish, highly desired
Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and the ability and willingness to work with economically and culturally diverse clientele from various professional and ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written communications, patience, diplomacy, and high level of customer service skills.
Ability to think critically, problem solve and be resourceful.
Embraces cultural differences and is willing to foster diversity, equity and inclusion.

Continuous commitment to improve occupational knowledge.
Ability to learn and navigate Microsoft Office Suite, Google platform, Zoom and other technology platforms.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
To best mitigate the spread of disease and protect our staff, it is a condition of employment that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Because YCD prioritizes the health and well-being of employees, proof of vaccination will be required upon hire and be kept on file for each employee.
