Junior Capture Manager, Growth Team

The Junior Capture Manager professional will support the Growth organization and develop new business opportunities from pursuit approval through proposal and award. YSG is focused on continuing our track record of pursuing and winning new business, providing training, mission support, and professional services to our DoD customers. The Junior Capture Manager works with all members of the Growth team to continue to develop opportunities and position YSG for a successful bid. Most opportunities range in size from $5M - $25M total contract value. The Junior Capture Manager reports directly to the Capture Director. This is a remote, full-time, salary exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pursue qualified contract opportunities in the YSG business pipeline.
  • Work with Business Development Leads and other members of the YSG Growth Team to mature and advance YSG’s competitive position with respect to target opportunities in anticipation of the final request for proposal (RFP).
  • Create capture plans to complete all Capture milestones, Gate Reviews, and other opportunity-specific tasks in YSG’s New Business Lifecycle.
  • Lead the opportunity’s Capture Team in development and execution of overall win strategy, including strategic messaging, developing solutions, identifying and filling key positions, analyzing competition, building teams, and vetting YSG’s approach with customers.
  • Present opportunity updates to internal and external stakeholders to articulate YSG’s competitive position, continually assess opportunity viability, and gain Executive approval for the resources to bid opportunities.
  • Keep opportunity statuses and information up to date in YSG’s internal opportunity tracking system.
  • Implements the win strategy and incorporates it into the proposal.Job Requirements:


    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of capture management experience.
    • Familiarity with Federal Contracting.
    • Understanding of the Defense environment and Federal Contracting.
    • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and creative problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent writing skills and experience in technical writing.
    • Experience leading teams with members from a variety of different organizations and functional responsibilities.
    • Personal accountability for quality of performance, deliverables, and end products.
    • Extremely detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to stakeholders and decision-makers.
    • Outstanding organizational, planning, and time management skills.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Additional (up to three years) capture management experience.
    • DoD-specific Federal Contracting experience.
    • Experience or understanding of Training and Mission Support services.
    • Understands processes for project management, contracts, pricing, and proposal development, specifically in relation to positioning for bids and contributing to proposals.

    Clearance: Clean crime and credit background check. Eligible for a DoD SECRET security clearance.

    Location: Working from remote office is authorized.

    Travel: Periodic travel may be required.

    Note: For a highly motivated candidate who meets all required qualifications except prior Capture Management experience, YSG may consider offering appropriate training in this area.
