Job Description:


Summary:

Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a highly qualified Commanders Action Group Chief to provide the Space Operations Command (SpOC) Commander’s Action Group (CCX) with advisory and assistance services to support and/or improve organizational policy development, decision-making, management, and administration for (1) strategic design, (2) Legislative Affairs, (3) speechwriting, and (4) executive actions to SpOC/CCX. This position is charged with ensuring the 3-Star Field Command (FIELDCOM) commander is ready to execute her/his tasks not already covered by the Deputy Commanding General (DCG) staffs. The CCX team is a forward-looking, strategic-thinking arm and personal focal point for focused strategic planning efforts, integrated communication efforts, and leadership engagement actions.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support USSF and SpOC Leadership hosted functions and engagement activities. Products resulting from this task may include, but are not limited to documents, briefings, presentations, papers, and scripts.
  • Provide facilitation of pre-event planning, on-site coordination, preparation of presentation materials, and post-event activities for designated Government and interagency conferences, symposia, workshops, Distinguished Visitor (DV) visits, and other forums and speaking engagements to support HQ SpOC strategic messaging and engagement.
  • Provide technical support for CCX Strategic Design activities by conducting quarterly Strategic Plan reviews with SpOC senior leaders. Products resulting from this task may include, but are not limited to - Bi-weekly reports, Commander’s Weekly emails, documents, briefings, presentations, papers, and scripts. Within the timelines established by CCX.
  • Creating abstracts, initial drafts, final drafts and final materials for strategic intent documents, strategic-level plans and messages, and mission, vision, and priority statements, and updating these documents when directed.
  • Create, in coordination with HQ SpOC public affairs (PA), an annual strategic-level communications plan outlining themes, messages, and soundbites for use by the Commander and subordinate units.
  • Provides recommendations for Commander speaking engagements, symposia, and other public engagement events.
  • Develop/staff packages, briefings, point/background/white papers, perform E-staffing; set up/support meetings, draft meeting minutes, track/respond to action items.
  • Assist the Chief of Legislative Affairs by planning, coordinating, and executing Congressional Delegation (CODEL) and Staff Delegation (STAFFDEL) visits to HQ SpOC, subordinate units, and FLDCOM installations. Develop itineraries in coordination with SAF/LL and SAF/FML escorts, SpOC HQ/Delta leaders, and outside organizations (i.e., SSC, STARCOM, USSPACECOM, USNORTHCOM, MDA, and NRO) as necessary. Identify and invite SpOC hosts and subject matter experts to participate in visits as applicable. Manage visit logistics, movements, and security clearance requirements to ensure a seamless visit.
  • Assist the Chief of Legislative Affairs by drafting, tasking, and coordinating preparatory materials, contact reports, and requests for information in support of congressional engagements. Ensure the SpOC personnel have the most current DAF/USSF/HQ SpOC approved talking points in anticipation of congressional CODEL/STAFFDEL visits, office calls, phone calls, and events. Following engagements, draft, task, and coordinate responses to requests for information for SpOC/CC approval and delivery back to Congress.
  • Assist the Chief of Legislative Affairs by drafting, tasking, and coordinating congressional hearing testimony and prep materials for DAF witnesses. Provide pre-hearing and “late-night” support when necessary to Air and Space staff in anticipation of DAF witness testimony. Task, draft, and coordinate post-hearing actions with 48 hours to include hearing summaries for SpOC leadership and responses to hearing questions for the record (QFRs).
  • Utilizing the SpOC Communication Plan, creates abstracts, initial drafts, final drafts, and final materials for Commander scheduled and unscheduled speaking engagements, such as impromptu remarks, introductory remarks, keynote speeches, policy pronouncements, and 'messages to the troops.’
  • Crafting informal remarks for the Commander using the currently approved format approximately 24 speaking engagements per year.
  • Conduct research and analysis of topics in public speaking engagements in accordance with the approved strategic communications plan, approximately 24 per year.
  • Maintain SpOC/CCX SharePoint site and virtual collaborative environment.
  • Maintain an active Task Management Tool (TMT) account on NIPR and SIPR and manage the CCX workflow by creating, completing, and closing TMT taskers as directed by CCX.
Job Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

  • Former U.S. Air Force Officer at the O-6 level or above.
  • Must have served at the Air Force Service and Joint Levels.
  • Must have Combatant Command experience.
  • Must possess experience with and be knowledgeable of the Space Operations Command.
  • Must possess experience in strategic design, Legislative Affairs, speechwriting, and executive actions.
  • Experience on a FIELDCOM Commander's Action Group Staff is preferred.
  • Chief of Staff experience in the U.S. Air Force is preferred.

Clearance: Must possess a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Location: Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado

Travel: Travel may be required.
