York County Economic Development (YCED) is the lead organization responsible for recruiting businesses, retaining and growing existing firms, and promoting and marketing York County. YCED also assists in strategic initiatives across York County that are focused on product development, workforce development, infrastructure improvements and quality of life.Economic Development is excited to hire a fulltime Research Manager to join their team. The role of this position is to perform routine and customized research that supports the business attraction, expansion/retention, and marketing mission of the Economic Development Department. Responsibilities include leading and executing primary and secondary research, preparing information for marketing activities, database management, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and analysis, and a variety of other duties related to assisting the recruitment, retention, marketing and strategic initiatives of the Department.

Projected Hiring Range:  $61,144 - $76,430 per year. Compensation is determined based on qualifications.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hours per week), occasional weekend and evening work required for special events.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Leads or assists in the completion of responses to requests for proposals for new and existing economic development opportunities.
  • Assists department efforts to scan and monitor social media to identify critical information as necessary.
  • Enters and maintains data as well as create reports using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system which is in the Salesforce platform.
  • Collects, updates and maintains necessary data from secondary sources as necessary during the year.
  • Assists in the research and preparation of information for marketing publications, presentations, blogs, internal and external communications, speeches, and other marketing collateral material used to promote York County.
  • Implements continual process improvements to increase the speed, accuracy and professionalism of Economic Development services and response time to research requests.
  • Organizes, stores and maintains data within the department’s electronic filing system that is both in-house and cloud-based (Dropbox/Evernote).
  • Communicates with various economic development agencies in the state and region to collect data/information that will assist in the mission of the department.
  • Conducts various primary research projects as needed that may include wage & benefit surveys, industry surveys, and community surveys.
  • Assists in the routine maintenance of the department’s website that includes updating economic data, lists, documents and webpage copy. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Communications, Liberal Arts or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of economics, statistics, research methods or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
