York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated substitute teacher to provide long-term coverage during the 2023-2024 school year. The anticipated term of service is approximately 2-3 months.

Beginning approximately mid-February 2024, the teacher will teach courses in Middle & Upper School Spanish. The ideal candidate will connect well with students in each age group. Interested candidates should have expertise in 21st Century learning within the classroom and knowledge with interdisciplinary learning experiences for students. The teacher will be called upon to cover the duties assigned to the absent teacher as well, including an 6th grade advisory.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be able to teach Middle/Upper School Spanish, including grammar, composition, culture/literature, and vocabulary. In addition, the candidate should be able to foster critical thinking skills, engage students in classroom discussions, and promote active, student-centered learning. The ideal candidate should possess at minimum an undergraduate degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field. Candidates should have teaching experience and be an excellent communicator and collaborator. Candidates must have the capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed. Previous teaching in an independent school setting is desired.
