Microbiologist - 3rd shift needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in San Jose, CA.

This position will be for a major in vitro diagnostics company and requires someone with a B.S. with 3 years relevant experience or M.S. with 1 years relevant experience in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, and/ or Medical Diagnostic is desired. At least 2 years of lab experience required.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:30 pm - 12 midnight with a 30-minute lunch.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing for new instruments, AST panels, and consumables.
• Process biological specimen samples using aseptic techniques and lab safety protocols.
• Perform microbiological examinations for the detection and identification of pathogenic bacteria from blood cultures or bacteria isolates.
• Work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team to support microbiology research and development.
• Requires knowledge and proficiency in standard microbiological methods such as dilutions and enumeration of microorganisms, stocking frozen strains, isolation, identification of pathogenic microorganisms, preparation and sterilization of culture media, and aseptic techniques.

• S. with 3 years relevant experience or M.S. with 1 years relevant experience in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, and/ or Medical Diagnostic is desired, 2 years of Lab experience required.
• Experience working within a fast-paced environment with strong research background and proven proficiency in data analysis, research design, troubleshooting and evaluation of new technologies and procedures.
• Familiarity with a GMP production environment, procedures, and processes.
• Strong organizational skills, decision making, communication, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills.
• Must be able to work both independently with minimal guidance and oversight as well as in tandem with all levels of corporate personnel. Show understanding, tact, and patience when working with diverse team members to maintain positive working relationships throughout the company.
• Make sound, well-informed judgments with the quality of product at the top of their mind when forming decisions.
• Knowledge and work experience dealing with regulatory agency (e.g., FDA and ISO) requirements is a plus.
