Our client, a family owned, highly rated healthcare facility located in Northern New Jersey is seeking a Director of Finance / Senior Controller. The successful candidate will take charge of the facilities financial and accounting activities especially in the area of managing Account Receivables, Account Payables and insurance billing. The Director of Finance will manage 7 individuals tasked with AR/AP and bookkeeping responsibilities. The position provides excellent financial compensation, benefits and room for career growth.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures associated with admissions, billing, collection and other related administrative duties.
Oversee the billing operations activities to ensure timely, accurate, and complete billing.
Perform detailed accounts receivable reviews with facility staff. Participate in other A/R meetings as needed.
Assist in identification of obstacles to collection goals and help address them; recommend resources needed to achieve desired results.
Monitor timeliness of closing activities; ensure timely close, including the coordination of additional resources to complete a close when necessary (i.e. missing staff, open positions).
Review clearing accounts to ensure accurate month-end closing and continued smooth functioning of A/R processing.
Review and approve write-offs prepared by the Business Office after approval by the Managing Director.
Supervise training of staff, including development of the Business Office. Assist and develop an annual training plan to improve knowledge and ability of assigned Business Office activities.
Perform audit activities with respect to the following systems: Resident Trust Funds, Medicare regulatory requirements (ABN letters, cut letters, triple checks), Segregation of duties, Continued function of management processes (including pending meetings, collection blitz reviews)
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
10 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years previous experience with nursing home billing required
Must possess thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance and Managed Care billing, collection of policies, and processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA highly preferred
Must have the ability to make independent decisions regarding billing, collection, and other related matters.
Must have good interpersonal skills, including the ability to oversee staff.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Must have experience utilizing computers, including familiarity with spreadsheets, written analysis, and automated computer systems processing.
Must have good verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss matters of non-compliance with non-financial staff.
