Position Summary :

Under the direction of the Director- Aquatics, assumes responsibilities for assigned segments in the development , planning, introduction, and administration of a wide range of aquatic programs within a Branch.

Essential Functions :

• Performs YSL instructions, lifeguarding, coaching and fitness instruction as needed.
• Coordinates the introduction of new program activities and the expansion of existing ones.
• Contributes to the design and dissemination of aquatic oriented communications to attract and retain membership and further community involvement in YMCA activities.
• Monitors, establishes schedules, and assigns staff responsibilities for pool maintenance and operation to meet all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
• Participate in the hiring and evaluation of staff.
• Evaluates various activities to ensure compliance with approved safety policies and procedures; communicate areas of concern for further action;

recommend new or enhanced training and procedures to assure compliance.

Interfaces with parents and members on issues, suggestions, and programs.

Qualifications :

• Minimum age of 18.
• Experience in planning and directing aquatic programs.
• Ability to resolve a wide range of staff, member, and general public issues.
• Proven ability to effectively deal with emergencies and safety issues.
• Currently hold, or readily obtainable, current required certifications.

Physical Demands :

• Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion to assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
• Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
