The Member Services Representative - Manager on Duty (MOD) serves as the lead MSR and is responsible for monitoring the facility for safety and cleaning concerns during evening and weekend hours and resolve issues in a timely fashion.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Building staff while on duty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as role model to members and Y staff and at all times live the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA movement.
  • Greet members/visitors in a warm, welcoming manner while providing informational services and directing individuals to the proper person or location, answer incoming calls, process membership and program sales registration and payment.
  • Receive and resolve member complaints according to Membership Best Practices.
  • Ensure gate access is being monitored.
  • Ensure proper safety measures are in place with lifeguards at all times, i.e. they are scanning the pool, have proper equipment and are positioned correctly.
  • Provide exceptional tours of the facility according to Membership Best Practices.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and welcoming reception and lobby areas, perform incidental clerical and custodial work and other jobs as assigned by management staff.
  • Walk through, monitor and check the entire facility several times throughout each shift ensuring things are running smoothly. This includes, but is not limited to, checking the entrance and parking lot for trash (slippery walkways during winter), ensuring unsupervised/underage youth are behaving, bathrooms and locker rooms are clean, towels, soap and paper products are full, etc.
  • Able to perform closing procedures for the branch during the week and opening procedures on the weekend.
  • Know the emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
  • Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
  • Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley and regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Branch Executive.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years as Member Services Representative preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass background check
  • CPR /AED/First Aid Certification*
  • Must be able to pass CCC training*

*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. All the above certification training programs are available at the YMCA of the Mississippi Valley.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and repetitive motions. This position is expected to be able to perform essential and related functions of the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to moderate during office hours and moderate to loud during event hours. This position works in a combined environment of office setting and fitness facility. This position primarily works evening and weekend hours but may be required to work other hours as needed.
