Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

At YMCA of Southwest Florida, we are seeking a Membership and Wellness Director to join our team. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position is integral to member engagement and retention, communication, developing plans, implementing of strategic goals, and maintaining community relationships. He/She will oversee the Membership and Wellness Departments which includes dedicated membership and Kid Zone staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for new member attraction through community involvement and relationship building with local business and organizations. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates Membership and Kid Zone staff. Will provide leadership in ensuring all staff is equipped to provide the best member experience possible at all times.
  • Perform the duties of Membership Services Associate and Kid Zone Attendant if necessary.
  • Build relationships with members, program participants and community partners.
  • Motivates and trains staff to improve membership and member retention.
  • Practice strong fiscal stewardship in the execution of financial and membership policies and procedures.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates all membership reporting, surveys and tabulations as requested by management.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Is highly visible at the front desk and in the facility.
  • Coordinates program registration and marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based engagement strategies. Models’ relationship building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive personal and financial data for each member.
  • Monitoring and enforcing membership policies and procedures.
  • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of the membership process –i.e. cancelation, associate renewals, on-hold request, existing member changes, and new member application/bank draft and suspending bank draft
  • Accurately process new program registrations including cash transactions and maintenance of member records. Respond to inquiries both in person, phone, and email.
  • Handle and Solve Member Complaints
  • Lead membership events including Member Appreciation Days at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Respond to emergency situations by adhering to the safety policies and procedures set for the Association.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
  • Perform other duties assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years related managerial/team leadership experience
  • Exemplary Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments 
  • of the community.
  • Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Positive attitude, self-starter with high energy
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of employment
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Completion of YMCA’s Listen First Training
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
