POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director the position's primary goal is to assist in the administration of health & wellness programs for members in accordance with the objectives and policies set forth by the Association.
Located in a growing community in Northwest Las Vegas, The Centennial Hills Y offers over 75 different group exercise classes weekly, personal training, team training, and a fitness center with state-of-the art cardio equipment, circuit machines, free weights and two exercise studios. Additionally, the facility boasts an indoor & outdoor pool and two basketball courts. There is diverse membership base of 12,000 members encompassing young families, military and working professionals, active seniors and much more.
The Health & Wellness Director will oversee a vibrant team of approximately 45 group exercise instructors and personal trainers, one part-time leadership staff and will be responsible for an annual budget of $173,000. The Director will also support the branch in achieving family membership growth goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the supervision of 45 Wellness Staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training volunteers; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certified Group Exercise Instructor
Certified Personal Trainer
Current CPR & First Aid Certification
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Educational background in fitness testing or exercise physiology (recommended).
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforces safety regulations, and applies appropriate management techniques.

1) Provide safe, secure and educational wellness experience to membership to enhance the image of the YMCA in the community.
2) Impact the overall effectiveness of the association's implementation of the YMCA mission.
3) Provide the membership with quality services, programs and leadership in the wellness area thus helping the association to achieve higher levels of membership retention.
