POSITION SUMMARY
Power Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer learning loss prevention and academic intervention program. We support scholars from all over San Francisco and San Mateo County in developing their academic foundation, as well as social emotional and critical thinking skills. Over the course of the summer, scholars spend 3 hours per day, 4 days per week with credentialed teachers reviewing math and literacy concepts to help catch them up to grade level and prepare them for the year ahead.
Instructional Coaches provide individualized support and feedback to classroom teachers and teaching assistants to improve overall instruction in ELA and math, student engagement, and achievement. The Instructional Coach is responsible for teaching one PSA cohort and/or substituting in classrooms as necessary.
The Instructional Coach is also responsible for ensuring that pre- and post-assessments are administered to fidelity, and coaches the academic teachers and assistant teachers in using the results of pre-assessments to effectively differentiate learning and effectively group scholars in the classroom. The Instructional Coach, in partnership with the Program Manager and Program Director, develops and leads teacher training before Power Scholars Academy begins and plays a critical leadership role on site.
Power Scholars Academy programming is scheduled for June 2024 - July 2024, though dates vary slightly by program. Training begins May 2024. Trainings will be aligned with program specific and individualized training needs. Additional trainings such as CPR and Child Abuse Prevention are required.
