YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is Hiring a Staff member in charge, School Age Programs YMCA Near Saint Petersburg, FL

Staff member in charge provides a safe, fun and educational environment for all School Aged program participants. Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures in the absence of the Site Coordinator. Must be willing and able to work at various school sites as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans weekly program of activities that include implementation of YMCA Curriculum
  • Assists with direct supervision of all staff in center which includes daily guidance
  • Uses appropriate effective discipline and direct management of all children according to written policy
  • Assures activities are safe and fun for children and actively facilitates the activities with children
  • Establishes positive rapport with parents, staff, school faculty and school Principal
  • Maintains all school and YMCA equipment, supplies and inventories
  • Assists with maintenance of records and data on each child and each employee
  • Assists with collection of fees, implementation of site budget
  • Attends all staff meetings and training sessions, including state mandated courses
  • Maintains cleanliness of school and YMCA facilities, keeping centers organized and usable
  • Knows the YMCA mission statement and program philosophies
  • Effectively handles all emergency incidents that occur in YMCA program, using mature sound judgment
  • Maintains YMCA standards for School Age programs, as well as state licensing and central agency requirements
  • Support YMCA and grant contract policies and procedures
  • Promotes and market ALL YMCA programs, encourages family participation
  • Builds relationships while working with program participants, staff and volunteers
  • Attends required abuse risk management training.
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated YMCA and grant contracts abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a before or after school setting.
  • Requires completion of all mandatory child care trainings MODS
  • Requires six early childhood credits from an accredited university or hold a CDA or CDA equivalent and Directors' credential.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • First Aid, CPR & AED required.
  • Prefer knowledge of sports and children's programming.
  • Strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, general record keeping skills and must be capable of resolving conflict.
  • Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
