YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is Hiring an Assistant preschool Near Largo, FL

We participate in the Engage and Elevate program through The Early Learning Coalition. Earn a *$500 sign on bonus and up to $6,000 in incentives per year!

We are currently hiring for a full-time or part-time Teacher Assistant at the Bardmoor YMCA Preschool Academy. We are seeking fun and energetic individuals to assist in providing a safe and educational environment for our early learning center participants.

Ideal candidates will have a positive attitude, creative personality and excellent classroom management skills.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Assists Pre-School Teachers with classroom coverage, providing a quality experience to children that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Leads activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
  • Establishes and enforces rules to promote positive behavior.
  • Attends to children's basic needs including supervising meal times, playground times and free play.

Candidates must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Position requires completion of MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Part 1 & 2).

The ideal candidate will have experience working with preschool aged children and the ability to work effectively with a team.

Must be able to interact with toddlers and young children for an extended period of time both indoors and outdoors. Must be available to work Monday through Friday.

Pre-employment drug test and level 2 background screen required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms.

The employee will occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.

Pay Rate : $14.75-$20.00 / hr.
