YMCA of Greater San Antonio is Hiring a Membership Coordinator Near Schertz, TX

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership Coordinator is responsible for setting an atmosphere of inclusion and engagement at the front desk and with all members. This position assists the Membership Director with supervising the Member Engagement Representatives and works along side the Membership Engagement Lead.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sets the example for the membership staff in areas of dress, demeanor, and customer service.
  • Leads the welcome center staff team in all processes necessary to perform their job (computer, phone, customer service, etc.).
  • Trains new and existing front desk staff on membership policies and procedures, including guest service expectations.
  • Works nights, weekends, holidays and staff-on/director-on duty shifts as required.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y.
  • Serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Assists the Membership and Marketing Director with processing of membership paperwork, registrations and refunds.
  • Supports the Membership and Marketing Director with the weekly/monthly schedule for member engagement staff.
  • Supports the Membership and Marketing Director on special projects, as needed.
  • Assists the Membership and Marketing Director in hiring and evaluating membership staff.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Position requires two years of college or equivalent experience in a customer service position.
  • Prior experience or training in staff supervision and management.
  • Certifications required within the first week of hire: Foundations in Preventing Abuse in Youth Organizations
  • Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.
  • Must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must be able to word process at 45 WPM and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must become proficient within 30 days in the use of ActiveNet.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.
  • This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
  • Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
  • Incumbent must be able to stand for long periods of time, as well as be able to use keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils.
  • Uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
