YMCA of Greater Louisville is Hiring a Calypso Cove Manager Northeast Family YMCA (Member Services) Near Louisville, KY

Overview

This position is for Cove Managers at the Northeast YMCA’s Calypso Cove waterpark. The purpose of this position is to ensure that the park remains safe and enjoyable. They serve as a positive role model for members and staff as well as create a character-developing atmosphere. The manager oversees all Lifeguards and Deck Attendants, ensuring their vigilance on safety/rules, shift rotations, hydration and sunscreen application (water and sunscreen are provided). They also serve as Manager in Charge in the absence of a director, which includes handling any and all emergency situations as well as member assistance and issues.

This is a seasonal position from May 11-September 8, 2024.

Job Skills / Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model the YMCA character and values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility through your actions and conversations
  • Communicates our image using the Ys Voice of Genuine, Nurturing, Hopeful, Welcoming, and Determined
  • Build relationships with multi age groups, especially children
  • All job responsibilities covered under standard lifeguards
  • Understand and enforce all YMCA policies and pool rules and regulations
  • Work a limited number of lifeguard shifts per week
  • Cover open lifeguard shifts when necessary
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the waterpark grounds and facilities
  • Perform scheduled chemical testing of the water and report/communicate equipment inspection/functionality
  • Responsible for the Lifeguard and Deck Attendant work schedules and assists in finding coverage for shifts as needed
  • Assist membership staff with member/guest inquiries and check ins as needed
  • Handle and resolve member/guest complaints and inform Directors of unusual situations or unresolved issues
  • Review and submit all Accident/Behavior reports and inform director
  • Help facilitate family programs, educational, and recreational activities
  • Remain knowledgeable in all programs, class schedules and program/membership information as well as keep adequate supplies/information available
  • Assist with best practices in fiscal management relative to use of supplies and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be encouraging, engaging, energetic & patient
  • The ability to interact with members and guests in a professional manor.
  • Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment.
  • First Aid/CPR/Oxygen Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment.
  • Comfortable in and around water
  • Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate verbally with supervisor, members, and other staff, including projection of voice across distance in normal and loud situations
  • Previous experience in planning and implementing youth development programming is preferred
  • Flexible work schedule

Certification Requirements (All)

First Aid/CPR/Oxygen Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment
Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment
