YMCA of Greater Houston is Hiring a Refugee Resettlement Program Coordinator Near Houston, TX

YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a Program Coordinator on our team, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, asylees, Cuban border crossers, Special Immigrant Visa holders and victims of human trafficking gain access to a wide range of social support services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient. 

Duties /Responsibilities Program Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervise Reception and Placement (R&P) program staff.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and monitors personnel.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Monitors program outcomes to ensure programs remain in compliance. 
  • Coordinates donation needs with Logistics Specialist and Volunteer and In-Kind Director.
  • Assist Program Director in submitting reports to funder.
  • Ensures monthly that all 90-day case file reports are completed accurately.
  • Audits staff files and case notes to ensure compliance and approves check requests.
  • Conducts grievance meetings with clients.
  • Writes narrative and composes quantitative reports by required deadlines to provide updates on the status of the programs.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with Program Director.
  • Monitors compliance with YMCA training requirements monthly.
  • Represent the agency at network meetings, consultations and other public events.
  • Comply with the agency’s policies and standards. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets
  • Other duties as assigned including airport pickup and food distribution rotation.

Outcomes Program Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • All required services are provided in a timely fashion for up to 1485 R&P clients per year.
  • Program is compliant during internal audits and grant monitoring.
  • All staff are trained and have full functional expertise within 60 days from the date of hire.
  • Monthly internal monitoring of program. Audit 20% of program files per quarter to ensure compliance. Monitor client eligibility for services.

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, or other related field and/or relevant experience preferred. Supervisory experience required and ability to manage a highly diverse, growing team.? Experience working with refugees and/or multicultural populations. Fluency in a refugee language helpful.
  • Other Skills and Qualifications: Valid Texas driver’s license required, clean driving record, applicable auto insurance and a vehicle. Highly motivated and independent. Schedule flexibility must be able and willing to work on Saturdays, early mornings or evenings if needed.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, media requests, and the general public.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; Client Track, Refugee Management System, and other software routinely used in data management.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.

Note: All positions are filled in response to current refugee arrivals and their language needs; as language needs change, this will necessitate flexibility in our staffing. This is a grant funded position
