Join the Refugee Resettlement team as a Program Specialist. The Program Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of Refugee Resettlement by maintaining high-quality services and providing culturally sensitive orientation to the clients. This position requires a combination of attention to detail, cross-cultural communication skills, and a strong commitment to the well-being of resettled refugees.
The Expertise We Are Looking For

  • Associate degree
  • Two (2) years of experience working with refugee populations or in multicultural settings.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • You have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • You have knowledge of refugee resettlement policies and procedures is desirable.
  • You have proficiency in one or more languages spoken by refugee populations served by the program is an asset.
What you Deliver
  • You develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of program services. Conduct regular reviews of program activities, documentation, and client interactions to identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with program staff to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality control processes.
  • You design and deliver cultural orientation sessions for newly arrived refugees to help them adjust to life in their host country. Provide information on local customs, laws, and resources to facilitate refugees' integration into their new communities.
  • You tailor orientation sessions to meet the specific needs and backgrounds of different refugee populations. Offer ongoing support and guidance to refugees as they navigate cultural differences and challenges.
  • You serve as a bridge between refugees and program staff, facilitating effective communication and understanding.
  • You cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for refugees, respecting and valuing their cultural backgrounds and experiences. Work closely with interpreters and translators to ensure accurate communication during orientation sessions and client interactions. Provide cultural sensitivity training to program staff to promote cross-cultural understanding and competency.
  • You participate in the development and implementation of program initiatives aimed at enhancing services for refugees. Collect feedback from refugees and stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of cultural orientation and quality control efforts. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve program operations and client outcomes.
  • You perform other duties as assigned.
